Ooredoo Algeria says it has expanded its 5G network to all provinces in the country, well ahead of the government’s rollout schedule, although actual coverage in each province remains limited.
Ooredoo began rolling out its 5G network in December 2025, alongside rival telcos Mobilis and Djezzy. All three were tasked by Algeria’s Postal and Electronic Communications Regulatory Authority (ARPCE) to launch pilots in eight wilayas (provinces) to start, with three of them covered by 5G within the first year of operation.
ARPCE also mandated that telcos cover another ten wilayas every year up to 2031, by which time all wilayas must have at least 50% 5G coverage.
Ooredoo Algeria said on Monday it now has 5G up and running in all wilayas, and will continue to boost its network infrastructure and increase the density of its base stations.
“By extending 5G coverage across the entire country, Ooredoo reaffirms its determination to continue investing in infrastructure and networks in order to deliver services that meet international standards, while contributing to the development of the digital economy, supporting youth ambitions, and accelerating the digitalization of businesses,” said Ooredoo Algeria CEO Roni Tohme in a statement.
The news comes a little over a week after Djezzy announced its 5G deployment was also ahead of schedule, with its 5G network now live in 18 provinces.
