U Mobile launches EIP Hub to let enterprises play with 5G-A

Malaysian 5G network provider U Mobile officially launched its Enterprise Innovation Platform (EIP) Hub on Friday, which provides enterprises with a sandbox to collaborate on developing real-world solutions using 5G-Advanced and AI.
First announced in January, the EIP Hub aims to bring together enterprises, technology partners, academia, advisors and public sector stakeholders to develop, test and demonstrate 5G-A, AI and other emerging technologies before scaling them. The idea is to reduce implementation risks and accelerate enterprise adoption of both 5G and AI, as well as realise meaningful business outcomes faster.
At the launch ceremony Friday, the EIP Hub showcased four in-house demos of practical enterprise applications using 5G-A and AI: Visual intelligence for real-time operational monitoring; digital twin with 5G, IoT and AI for predictive asset management; 5G drone patrolling and data capture for autonomous inspection and surveillance; and humanoid robotic autonomous intelligence.
EIP partners also showcased industry-specific solutions such as MCMC AgriNXT's AI-powered agriculture solution for optimising plantation operations and asset utilisation, Qualcomm's AI-enabled smart retail solution, and Huawei's AI-powered Smart Ward Solution that enables hospitals to monitor and analyse patient data in real time.
All solutions are powered by U Mobile’s ULTRA5G network, although the EIP Hub is open to anyone, not just U Mobile customers.
“Through the Enterprise Innovation Platform and the EIP Hub, we want to create an environment where organisations can confidently explore new technologies, develop practical solutions and scale innovations that create measurable business outcomes via our state-of-the-art 5G-A infrastructure,” said U Mobile CEO Wong Heang Tuck in a statement.
The EIP Hub currently hosts 15 partners in its ecosystem, including Amazon Web Services (AWS), Huawei Malaysia, Palo Alto Networks and Qualcomm, which have signed on as anchor partners. Braintree Technologies, China Mobile International, Meraque Group and ZTE Malaysia are onboard as technology partners.
