Indosat’s IFT launches “RAIA Grid” AI digital infrastructure project

Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison’s digital infrastructure spinoff Infra Fiber Teknologi (IFT) launched a new project called RAIA Grid on Wednesday to build an AI-powered digital infrastructure platform across Indonesia.

IFT is pitching RAIA Grid as a digital superhighway for Indonesia, leveraging its 86,000-km fibre footprint connecting 5G towers, fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) networks and data centres.

Moreover, RAIA Grid will embed machine learning, AI and agentic AI into how its infrastructure is planned, deployed and operated. IFT said this will enable the platform to support intelligent network planning and demand forecasting, optimize fibre routes and investment decisions, accelerate deployment through automation, and enable predictive maintenance and more autonomous network operations.

Those capabilities will in turn make the infrastructure more resilient and responsive, and enable the scalable, low-latency connectivity necessary to move data efficiently between where it is created, stored, processed and used, IFT said.

IFT is targeting RAIA Grid at telecoms operators, data centres, cloud providers, hyperscalers and enterprises, with an open-access model that promises infrastructure pathways between data centres, cloud platforms, businesses and AI workloads that will allow data and digital services to move more efficiently across Indonesia.

RAIA Grid’s president director Hendri Mulya Syam said the platform is designed to provide intelligent, adaptive and open-access infrastructure that enables greater scale, flexibility and connectivity across Indonesia’s growing digital economy.

“RAIA Grid is built with a clear strategic ambition – to become the digital superhighway connecting Indonesia’s increasingly complex digital ecosystem, from data centre to data centre, and ultimately connecting Indonesia to the world,” he said in a statement. “We are creating the infrastructure layer that enables compute, data and intelligence to move seamlessly at scale, turning connectivity into a strategic advantage for Indonesia’s digital future.”

The RAIA Grid project also ties in to the “Zankore” platform announced earlier this month by Indosat, Ooredoo Group, Nokia and Nvidia, with the aim of deploying a 1GW AI factory serving Southeast Asia using Nvidia’s DSX reference architecture, said Indosat’s president director and CEO Vikram Sinha.

“RAIA Grid is building the highway that connects data centres, cloud platforms, businesses and AI infrastructure, creating the foundation for a full AI stack,” Sinha said. “By bringing together RAIA Grid, Indosat and Zankore, we are connecting the critical layers needed to make AI more real, scalable and accessible across Indonesia.”

RAIA Grid is the first major iniative for IFT following its spinoff from Indosat last month, with backing from Asari Group.
