PLDT's new digital remittance service targets Filipinos in UAE and Singapore

PLDT Global Corp, part of Philippines’ telco group PLDT, has expanded its Tindahan ni Bossing (TinBo) digital platform, described as the go-to app for all the needs of overseas Filipinos, with the launch of a new service called ePadala.

This service allows overseas Filipino workers in Singapore and the United Arab Emirates to send financial assistance home via digital vouchers.

Specifically ePadala enables users to send cash-in vouchers directly to bank accounts or e-wallets in the Philippines. Operating through the TinBo app and website, the platform aims to eliminate the need for physical queues and over-the-counter transactions for Filipinos working abroad.

These vouchers are redeemable through more than 20 major Philippine banks and e-wallet platforms, providing families with immediate access to funds for tuition, healthcare and daily expenses.

As local news service The Manila Standard explains, this service expansion targets two of the largest overseas Filipino communities, whose members in the UAE and Singapore include professionals, skilled workers and household service employees.

The service features transaction fees designed to be affordable for workers who regularly send support home.

The company clearly seeks to provide a more secure method for cross-border transfers. However, at a time of conflict in the UAE, the opportunity to transact securely online is arguably even more relevant.

PLDT Global says that for over 20 years it has been delivering international connectivity, digital platforms, and global infrastructure that enable enterprises, carriers, and Filipino communities worldwide.
