Sri Lankan telco Dialog Axiata says it has expanded its 5G network to over 800 live sites spanning 24 districts, compared to just over 220 sites at the service’s initial launch three months ago.
Dialog said in a release on Monday that its network now covers Ratnapura, Monaragala, Badulla, Vavuniya, Polonnaruwa, Hambantota, Mullaitivu and Kegalle, which it claims marks the fastest 5G network growth in Sri Lanka.
“Expanding our 5G network to over 800 sites within three months of launch reflects Dialog’s unwavering commitment to driving Sri Lanka’s digital future,” said Dialog Axiata’s group CMO Lasantha Theverapperuma in a statement.
Dialog Axiata commercially launched its 5G service in mid-December 2025 (alongside rival telco SLT-Mobitel) right after purchasing spectrum from the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (TRCSL).
Dialog Axiata has also established “experience zones” at its head office, the World Trade Centre and Kandy City Centre to give prospective customers a chance to try out the network. Use cases being demonstrated include VR cycling, smart city use cases and AI portraits.
