Space42 signs autonomous mobility deals with e& UAE and A2Z

UAE-based satellite firm Space42 says it has signed separate MoUs with e& UAE and South Korean autonomous driving company Autonomous A2Z to develop the UAE’s autonomous mobility services ecosystem.

Under an MoU announced on Wednesday, Space42 and e& UAE agreed to develop, test, and deploy Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) technologies for autonomous mobility and smart city infrastructure across the UAE.

The partnership combines Space42’s recently launched Sovereign Mobility Cloud and autonomous vehicle (AV) solutions with e& UAE’s 5.5G, edge computing, and secure communication protocols, with a roadmap to 6G.

Space42 and e& UAE plan to co-develop pilot projects, regulatory frameworks, and business models to enable connected and autonomous mobility.

“Together with Space42, we’re combining UAE-wide 5.5G, edge compute and secure communications with the Sovereign Mobility Cloud to let vehicles ‘see’ more, react faster and share trusted data with roads, signals and pedestrians,” said e& UAE CEO Masood M. Sharif Mahmood. “Our goal is to help regulators and city operators stand up safe, certifiable pilots that improve road safety and keep traffic moving, while laying a clear path from today’s 5.5G to tomorrow’s 6G era.”

Meanwhile, Space42’s MoU with A2Z – announced on Thursday – calls for both companies to establish a joint venture based in Abu Dhabi to deploy and commercialize Level-4 autonomous-driving solutions in the Middle East and Africa.

Space42 said the JV – which builds on a previous partnership deal between both companies last year – will anchor a national ecosystem for innovation, development and commercialization of autonomous mobility solutions.

“The UAE is rapidly advancing towards a new era of intelligent transport,” said Hasan Al Hosani, CEO of Smart Solutions at Space42. “By joining forces with A2Z, we are paving the way for local innovation, technological advancement, and sovereign capability in one of the most transformative sectors of our time.”

Space42’s Sovereign Mobility Cloud – launched last month – runs on Core42’s Sovereign Public Cloud which leverages Microsoft Azure to provide AI-enabled infrastructure for mapping, fleet operations, and traffic management. Space42 has also partnered with Dynamic Map Platform and General Motors to enhance autonomous-driving systems.

Space42 has also been operating its robotaxi service, TXAI, since 2021. The company said the service has logged nearly 600,000 km of autonomous driving and 20,000 passenger trips without incident. The fleet operates at Saadiyat, Yas, Al Maryah, and Al Reem Islands, as well as Abu Dhabi Airport.

Both MoUs were signed and announced at this week’s GITEX Global 2025 event in Dubai.
