Nokia has appointed Siemens executive Emma Falck (pictured, left) as president of its Mobile Infrastructure business, as the vendor looks to position itself for the next phase of AI-driven networks.
Falck will join the Finnish vendor on September 1 from German engineering giant Siemens, where she currently serves as executive vice president of products for smart infrastructure buildings. In the role, she oversees product management, development and supply chain operations.
She has previously held a number of senior leadership positions focused on automation, software and connected technologies.
Nokia CEO Justin Hotard (pictured, right) said the appointment aligns with the company’s strategy as AI evolves towards “physical AI”, referring to AI systems that interact with and control real-world infrastructure, devices and machines such as autonomous systems, robotics and industrial automation. He added that telecoms networks will need to become increasingly AI-native as the industry moves towards 5G-Advanced and 6G.
Hotard described Falck as bringing broad transformation and operational leadership experience, alongside expertise from industries using technology to drive automation.
Falck said Nokia’s strengths across core software, radio networks and technology standards provide a strong foundation for future growth. She added that she plans to focus on strengthening execution and embedding AI more deeply into development and delivery processes.
