International network services provider RETN said on Wednesday it has expanded its presence in Bulgaria via a deal with connectivity and telecom solution provider Neterra to install a new PoP in its Sofia Data Center (SDC) campus.

For RETN, the new PoP adds further capacity and connectivity options in Sofia, one of the key interconnection hubs in the Balkans, providing carriers, service providers, content providers and enterprises with scalable IP transit and diverse routes to major European and Eurasian markets.

The new PoP also makes Neterra a new RETN IP transit customer, connecting it to RETN’s international backbone and giving it access to RETN’s network across Europe and Asia.

Consequently, Neterra – which operates four data centres in Bulgaria under [the SDC brand](https://developingtelecoms.com/telecom-technology/data-centres-networks/13607-neterra-expands-operations-with-second-data-centre-in-sofia.html) – will gain another international route to its upstream mix, expanding its options for carrying traffic to and from Europe and Asia for carriers, ISPs, content providers and enterprises across Southeast Europe, said Dean Belev, senior product manager for connectivity and NetIX at Neterra.

RETN now operates eight on-net PoPs in Sofia, which will reinforce Sofia’s role within its regional network and strengthen its network footprint in Southeast Europe, said RETN’s commercial director Betina Pavlova.

“Sofia is an important connectivity hub for Southeast Europe, and expanding our presence here enables us to better serve customers across the region,” says Betina Pavlova, Commercial Director at RETN.
