TIM Brasil revealed it acquired the lion’s share of rival Oi’s assets after it, Telefonica Brasil (Vivo) and Claro Brasil [joined forces to acquire](https://developingtelecoms.com/telecom-business/operator-news/10448-brazilian-operators-join-forces-to-win-oi-s-assets.html) the troubled operator’s assets for BRL16.5 billion ($3.2 billion).

TeleGeography’s CommsUpdate reported, TIM Brasil stated it paid 44% of the total fee which was around BRL 7.3 billion. The operator will have access to Oi’s 14.5 million mobile customers (40% of total base), 49MHz of spectrum (54% of available spectrum), and 7,200 cell sites (49%).

Vivo paid BRL 5.5 billion which was 33% of the total, gaining it access to 10.5 million mobile subscribers (29%), 43MHz spectrum (46%), 2,700 cell sites (19%).

Claro chipped in 22% of the final price, taking 32% of subscribers and 4,700 cell sites. All figures were rounded and not completely accurate.

The transaction is still subject to the approval of watchdog the National Telecommunications Agency (Agencia Nacional de Telecomunicacoes, Anatel) and the Administrative Council for Economic Defence (Conselho Administrativo de Defesa Economica, CADE). The deal is expected to be completed in 2021.
